The Dr Arthur Pryor Scholarship

Please complete this form to apply for the 2018 Dr Arthur Pryor Scholarship valued at $5000 (1 scholarship on offer in 2018).

The Scholarship was established with a generous donation from Dr Arthur Pryor’s family. The Scholarship’s main purpose is to support students who are undertaking study in a major within the Physics and Astronomy Department.

The successful applicant will:

• Be a domestic student who will be commencing studies at Macquarie University having completed the HSC (or equivalent) in the year prior to which the scholarship will be awarded;

• Demonstrate academic merit in the overall HSC (particular focus will be placed on how a student has done in HSC Physics and Mathematics);

• Have applied for, be accepted to and enrol to study in Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Advanced Science degree with a major in Physics, Astronomy and Astrophysics or Photonics. Application for double degrees are permitted;

• Be intending to study full time. A full time waiver can be granted in instances where the student can demonstrate a need to study part time (carer responsibilities, long term medical condition, etc);

• Have demonstrated a firm commitment, through a personal statement, to studying in the fields of Physics or Astronomy and Astrophysics or Photonics via a personal statement, letters or reference and/or an interview.

• Preference may be given to students who are relocating from a regional or rural area to study at Macquarie. These students are also able to provide information about their financial need. An interview may be required with the donor and agreed Macquarie University representative(s). The scholarship shall not be awarded in any year in which no candidate is considered to be of sufficient merit.
